Among those present (left to right) were Colonel Katherine A. Towle, Director of the Women Marines; Mrs. Ella C. Werner, National Treasurer of the Soroptimist Club; Lieutenant Colonel Mary L. Milligan, USA, Deputy Director, Women’s Army Corps (WAC); Mrs. Agres C. Turner, President, Washington Soroptimist Club; Captain Joy B. Hancock, USN, Assistant Chief for Women (WAVES); Miss Mary Bourne, Regional Director of South Atlantic Region, Soroptimist Club; and Colonel Mary J. Shelly, USAF, Director, Women in the Air Force (WAF). Soroptimist Clubs are international classified service clubs for professional and executive business women.
