In attendance were local town mayors, directors and representatives from local national health care hospitals as well as many local national German friends and families who live and work near the American bases throughout the Bavarian Oberpfalz region. U.S. Soldiers of all ranks were in attendance, including USAG Bavaria Commander Col. and Mrs. Lance Varney, BMEDDAC Commander Col. and Mrs. David Richardson as well as many other military leaders from Grafenwoehr, Hohenfels and Vilseck. Event organizer Frau Christl Pelikan-Geismann (pictured) in her opening speech welcoming the participants said “It’s so good to see so many Americans and Germans interested in maintaining our German-American ties and friendship. During these crazy times, it is important for the German community to stand side by side in solidarity with the American community and vice versa.” said Pelican-Geismann. “Our friendship dinners are a step in the right direction. Thank you all for supporting this idea!"
