Although I travel reasonably frequently it's very rare that I get to experience new countries. That happened today with my first trip to Estonia. It's just a two hour ferry ride from Helsinki, and Laura's dad very kindly treated us both, along with Laura's Mum, to a day trip over there. With two ferry trips and a day in a new country you can imagine that I'd have lots of photos, and I probably will end up posting at least half a dozen from today, but maybe when I'm a bit less knackered. Choosing a photo of the day was a bit tricky, but I've settled on this one. The old town in Tallinn is utterly beautiful, huge, very original and a hugely deserved Unesco World Heritage Site. Everywhere you look is ancient and pretty. At the heart of it all are millions of churches, and the tallest is St. Olaf's. There's been one there since God was a boy, but interesting for something like two hundred years this was the tallest building in the world. I need to check the dates, but I think it might have become the tallest building when the spire on Lincoln Cathedral collapsed. That's one for another time. Anyway, it's a tall building in a town and country I've never been to before, and the shot was taken from a vantage point right at the top of a hill - lofty new heights. :) Today was a really busy day.
