Walking from City Square Mall to Farrer Park Train Station; there wasn’t any signage to help direct passengers to the train station quickly/efficiently. Looking at the photo attached, upon reaching the intersection, turning left would go to the main road and turning right would reach the train station. Without any proper signage, this creates confusion and unnecessary wastage of productivity hours when people are trying to search for the right place. It seems minute, but let me present a possible business case. 2 minutes spent per person in searching for the right destination at that intersection over the lifespan of the Train Station and/or Singapore -> What would that productivity hours be multiplied by the average minimum wage? Millions to Billions of Dollars? Instead of hiring expensive analysts and professors to justify this, why not incur a one-time cost for one signage (see photo) or of other design? Imagine $2,000 signage installed versus Millions of dollars of productivity hours for the nation? Consider how you could justify this cost to benefit ratio in significantly increasing your salary increments and bonuses as credit from starting a new project. I hope you could consider, research and implement this observation for the good of the nation. 4 January 2016 Land Transport Authority Corporate Headquarters 1 Hampshire Road, Singapore 219428 Attention: Mr Chew Men Leong Chief Executive Officer SBS Transit Ltd, 205 Braddell Road, Singapore 579701 Attention: Mr Wong Chin Huat, David - Service Quality Committee SMRT Headquarters Building 251, North Bridge Road Singapore 179102 Attention: Mr Desmond Kuek Bak Chye - President and Group Chief Executive Officer RE: What is the one time cost - benefit ratio of a signage that max the nation's productivity hours over the lifespan of the train station and Singapore Dear Mr Leong, Mr Huat and Mr Kuek I hope this letter finds you well.
