Jamestown, Saint Helena: the historic Market building located on Market Street - constructed in 1865 using prefabricated cast iron to resist termite damage, the structure features a central clock, arched entryways, and repetitive architectural detailing characteristic of Victorian-era civic engineering. The building serves as a retail hub for the isolated British Overseas Territory, accommodating local agricultural vendors and small businesses. The surrounding urban environment includes adjacent commercial structures and the clock tower. Rising steeply behind the settlement are the barren volcanic cliffs that define the deep, narrow ravine of Jamestown.
