Herzogenburg Monastery is a beautiful baroque abbey in Lower Austria
A demonic figure on the roof of Aarhus Theatre in Theatregaden, Aarhus, eastern Jutland, Denmark. Designed by Hack Kampmann (1856-1920) and completed in 1898, the theatre is still in use for its original purpose. The architectural style is Art Nouveau. The reason for the demon on the roof is not known for certain but it is thought that Kampmann added it to indicate his dislike of the clergy at the nearby cathedral: however, he was responsible for considerable renovation of the cathedral as well, so it seems unlikely.
These large sound mirrors were an experimental idea in the early 1930's, to capture the sound of possible enemy aircraft flying over the English Channel and attacking mainland Briton. They were designed to act as giant sound ears, and were placed along various sections of the Kent and Sussex coastline. They were never used in action, because shortly after construction, Radar was invented! These examples are on Denge Marsh, near to Dungeness.
