This Greater Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus) in the wild just captured a bug at Las Cruces, New Mexico. The roadrunner, also the official state bird of New Mexico, is a member of the cuckoo family. The bird thrives in Southwest USA deserts and eats insects as well as small animals such s lizards. The crest on this roadrunner's head has been raised in alarm.
