Creeping thistles (Cirsium arvensis) stand tall in English fields in summer. Here, on Mitcham Common in Surrey, England, a prickly clump stands out from a surrounding sea of weld (Reseda luteola). All in all, this is an unusual mixed texture to make up a summer meadow / plantscape. Focus is on the foreground. Creeping thistle (Cirsium arvense) also has the name Canada thistle.
