$Medium to tall stout hairless perennial forming large clumps; stem thick. Leaves fleshy, undulate and pinnately lobed, waxy. Flowers white, 10-15mm, in broad billowy panicles. fruit 8-14mm, 2-parted, the upper segment globose.\nHabitat: Costal places, shingle and sandy beaches, sea cliffs.\nFlowering Season: June-August.\nDistribution: Atlantic and Baltic Coast of Europe, including Britain and Ireland.\n\nOften growing where there is a rich accumulation of seaweed humus. The young shoots used to be blanched and eaten as a vegetable.\n\nThis Picture is made on the IJsselmeer Coast, Noordoostpolder (The Netherlands).\nThe Species is not common along our Coasts.$

$Cotinus, the smoketree or smoke bush, is a genus of seven species of flowering plants in the family Anacardiaceae, closely related to the sumacs (Rhus).\n\nThey are large shrubs or small trees, native to the warm temperate Northern Hemisphere. The leaves are deciduous, alternate, simple oval shape, 3–13 cm long. The flowers are clustered in a large open terminal panicles 15–30 cm long with a fluffy grayish-buff appearance resembling a cloud of smoke over the plant, from which the name derives. The fruit is a small drupe with a single seed. Often classified in Rhus in the past, they are distinguished by the leaves being simple (not pinnate) and the 'smoke-like' fluffy flower heads.$

Daphne odora (winter daphne) is a species of flowering plant in the family Thymelaeaceae and is native to China. It is sometimes called Spurge olive, but this name is shared by other plants. It is an evergreen shrub with fragrant, fleshy, pale-pink, tubular flowers. D. odora 'Aureomarginata' has yellow edged leaves, and is hardier and more suitable to cultivation. Shallow depth of field with focus placed over the nearest flower heads.
