Staghorn Coral Acropora sp. is appreciated as shelter by many fish spieces like these Ternate Chromis Chromis ternatensis forming a big school in mid morning. Even quite big species like Coral Hind Cephalopholis miniata find a way into this labyrinth -- try to find them! Feather stars, ascidians, hydrozoans, kneecap corals, soft corals, cactus algae -- there is a lot more to see. Some Lemon Damsels Pomacentrus moluccensis and just one female Threadfin Anthias Pseudanthias huchtii. Raja Ampat, Indonesia, 0°33'44 \

Next to Tayandu Island there are Karangs, shallow areas that reach a few meters below the surface. They are full of life. This one is a long shallow reef reaching 5 to 8 meters at the shallowest. The coral community was dominated by large table Acropora with huge Porites colonies scattered about, and large patches of Isopora. This large Acropora coral is a good shelter for many fish species like Blue-Green Chromis Chromis viridis, Reticulated Dascyllus Dascyllus reticulatus, Webers Chromis Chromis weberi, Threadfin Anthias Pseudanthias huchti, Ternate Chromis Chromis ternatensis, Scaly Chromis Chromis lepidolepis, Leopard Wrasse Macropharyngodon meleagris and more.
