Also known as the Jackass Penguin, this little guy is enjoying a sunny beach day in Simonstown, South Africa, one of only three known mainland colonies.

The famous Boulders Penguin Colony in Simons Town is home to an adorable and endangered land-based colony of African Penguins. This colony is one of only a few in the world, and the site has become famous and a popular international tourist destination.

Body's upper parts are black and sharply delineated from the white underparts, which are spotted and marked with a black band. They are pursuit divers and feed primarily on fish and squid. The name jackass is due to the species' loud, donkey-like noise. They are found along the coast of South Africa and Namibia.

Adults weigh an average of 2.2–3.5 kg (4.9–7.7 lb) and are 60–70 cm (24–28 in) tall. The species has distinctive pink patches of skin above the eyes and a black facial mask. The body's upperparts are black and sharply delineated from the white underparts, which are spotted and marked with a black band. The pink glands above their eyes help them with thermoregulation.
