Located off Interstate 5 in Northern California, about 13 miles south of the state capital at Sacramento, the Stone Lakes Wildlife Refuge is home to thousands of migrating water fowl who follow the the 5,000-year-old Pacific Flyway. This shot was taken in summer with the water lillies in bloom. The sanctuary is part of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and is a protected area. Birdwatching tours are available monthly.
