Longsnout pipefish (Syngnathus temminckii) swimming in sea water
Ringed Pipefish Dunckerocampus dactyliophorus (Doryrhamphus dactyliophorus no longer accepted) occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa to Samoa, north to Japan, south to Australia in a depth range from 5-59m, max. length 19cm. The ovoviviparous species inhabits tide pools, lagoons, and outer reef slopes. Ringed Pipefishes are found in caves and crevices. The species feeds on small invertebrates. The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail. \nBanda Neira Island, Indonesia, \n4°31'20.574 S 129°53'55.134 E, at 2m depth (unusually shallow!) by night

Saw Blade Shrimp Tozeuma armatum is a species of broken back shrimp (Hippolydiae) that occurs throughout the tropical Indo-West Pacific and the Red Sea in a depth range from 3-30m, max. length 5cm. The species is associated with black corals and sea whips. The body is almost invisible due to the elongated shape and the camouflaging bands. \nTozeuma armatum can adopt the same color bands as it's particular coral colony host. It can be white, yellow, orange, red or combination of these. The rarest colour combination is yellow and blue. \nTriton Bay, Kaimana Regency, Indonesia, 3°54'41.688 S 134°7'15.66 E at 22m depth

Longnose Hawkfish Oxycirrhites typus is a reef-associated and strongly territorial fish species living in tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and South Africa to the Hawaiian Islands, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia and in the Eastern Pacific from the Gulf of California to northern Colombia and the Galapagos Islands in a depth range from 10-100m. \nThe species is uncommon or rare in most shallow areas, less uncommon below 25m depth. Maximum length 13cm. \n \nThis specimen is untypically sitting in an open area. The species usually hides in branching corals. \n\nTriton Bay, Kaimana Regency, West Papua Province, Indonesia, \n3°58'25.8996 S 134°9'58.816 E at 18m depth

Denise's Pygmy Seahorse Hippocampus denise occurs in tropical Western Pacific in a depth range from 13-90m, max length 2.2cm for males and 2.54 cm fore females. These Seahorses can match the coloration of the stems and with the body ornamentation in the form of tubercles they even perfectly imitate the polyps of their gorgonian hosts!  \nThe species is named after Denise Nielsen Tackett. \nTriton Bay, Kaimana Regency, Indonesia, 3°58'33.9276 S 134°10'0.3468 E at 17m depth
