The remains of the temple of Portico D'Ottavia in the heart of the Jewish Quarter (Roman Ghetto), near the archeological area of the Theatre of Marcellus. According to tradition and some archaeological remains of Ancient Rome this area was occupied by a fish market. The iconic Jewish Quarter of Rome, the oldest ghetto in Europe, is famous for the presence of hidden alleys and small squares, where it is easy to find small restaurants of Italian and Jewish cuisine, and remarkable Roman archaeological remains. The ghetto of Rome is located in one of the oldest districts of the Eternal City, located between the Campidoglio (Roman Capitol) and the Tiber river. Rome, Italy, September 07 -- Dozens of tourists rest in a garden in front of the National Monument of the Altare della Patria, in the historic heart of Rome. The Altare della Patria, or Vittoriano, was built in 1885 in neoclassical style in honor of the first King of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II near the Roman Forum, between the north side of the Capitoline Hill (Campidoglio) and the central Piazza Venezia. Inside is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a War Memorial dedicated to all the Italian soldiers who died in the war. The Altare della Patria is the scene of all the official Italian civic celebrations, in particular the Republic Day on June 2 and the Liberation Day on April 25.
