A colorful male American Robin (Turdus migratorius) is perched on a winter crabapple tree branch with a wrinkled crabapple berry in its beak. This winter tree in western New York State has been heavily ravaged by flocks of hungry birds. Whatever is still left is for the most part wrinkled and over ripe, and even rotting.
