The Sacred Mount of Oropa is a Catholic devotional complex near Biella (Piedmont, north-western Italy). It is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Its construction began in 1617, near an ancient Sanctuary dedicated to the Black Virgin of Oropa, one of the the best known in the Alps. The entire complex is made up of three large courtyards built on three levels and was designed by great Savoyard architects like Filippo Juvarra, Guarino Guarini, and others between the 17th and 18th centuries. Guatavita, Colombia - May 12, 2014: The Municipal Office including the Mayor's Office, a bank, a restaurant and a hotel on one of the principal squares in the Andean town of Guatavita, in the Cundinamarca department of the South American country of Colombia. A decorative piece based on the indigenous Chibcha culture, can be seen in the middle of the building: it is painted gold to denote the role gold played in the tribal culture. A waiter serves some customers at table set outside the restaurant; a man walks across the square. Although the town was constructed less than 50 years ago, it was designed and built in the classical Spanish colonial style of architecture. Villa de Leyva, Colombia - August 10, 2009: The church on the main plaza, of the historic 16th Century town of Villa de Leyva, in Andean, Colombian Department of Boyacá. Founded in 1572, and located at just over 7,000 feet above mean sea level on the Andes Mountains, Villa de Leyva was declared a National Monument in 1954 to protect its colonial architecture and heritage. The square on which the Church stands is the largest town square in Colombia. Seen in the image are local residents of the town and some Colombian tourists visiting the town; the International Villa de Leyva Kite Festival has just come to a close.
