The tree is on the left hand side of the photo. People who have risked driving over Van Zyl’s pass have left mementos under the tree. In the right foreground is the bottom of a dirt road which leads up a mountain into the distance. It is white pebbles at this point. \n\nThe road is at the western end of Van Zyl’s Pass in Kaokoland Namibia. Van Zyl’s is an iconic 4-wheel drive pass. It is very difficult to drive and claims many cars, which misjudge a technical part of the drive and tumble to the valley below.\n\nThe photo was taken in February 2020
