Rome, Italy, April 11 -- A dark sky looms over Castel Sant'Angelo near the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica. Built around 123 AD as a sepulcher for Emperor Hadrian and his family, the current Castel Sant'Angelo was used as a fortress, prison and refuge by the Popes, connected to the Vatican by a long narrow narrow corridor called 'Passetto'. The remains of the temple of Portico D'Ottavia in the heart of the Jewish Quarter (Roman Ghetto), near the archeological area of the Theatre of Marcellus. Rome, Italy, January 29 -- A view of the archaeological area of the Teatro di Marcello (Theatre of Marcellus), between the Jewish Ghetto and the Campidoglio (the Roman Capitol Hill). The theater of Marcellus it's still partially preserved, built on the orders of the emperor Augustus in the southern area of Campo Marzio.
