Crescent-Tailed Bigeye or Moontail Bullseye Priacanthus hamrur occurs in tropical Indo-Pacific in small aggregations and sometimes in schools in oceanic locations in a depth range from 8 to 250m, max. length 45cm, common length 40cm. It is an uncommon species found in outer reef slopes and deep lagoon pinnacles. The species feeds on small fish, crustaceans, and other small invertebrates. At a depth of 18m, red color is barely visible without an artificial light source. Only fishes in the foreground appear red, thanks to the flash units. Even at a short distance, the low-energy red light is largely filtered out. Tumakohua Passage of South Fakarava, Tuamoto Atoll, French Polynesia 16°30'53.736 S 145°27'44.178 W at 18m depth
