The Sacred Mount of Oropa is a Catholic devotional complex near Biella (Piedmont, north-western Italy). It is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Its construction began in 1617, near an ancient Sanctuary dedicated to the Black Virgin of Oropa, one of the the best known in the Alps. The entire complex is made up of three large courtyards built on three levels and was designed by great Savoyard architects like Filippo Juvarra, Guarino Guarini, and others between the 17th and 18th centuries.
