Native to Madagascar, Catharanthus roseus, commonly called periwinkle, Madagascar periwinkle or annual vinca, is an erect to spreading tender perennial in the dogbane family.\nIt produces attractive bushy foliage that is covered by a profuse bloom of phlox-like flowers from summer to frost. The colors of flower range from pale pink, rose, hot pink, red, lilac to white.

Very variable, short to medium, generally hairless, stoloniferous perennial; stems ascending to erect, round. Basal leaves few, linear, untoothed and unstalked. From W and C Europe to W Asia.\n\nThis is a rare Species in the Netherlands. The Picture is made in my Garden Pond.\nThe Plant is Poisonous but in the past used as Herbal Medicine.
