New Lusthaus Stuttgart. Built between 1584 and 1593 by court architect Georg Beer under Duke Ludwig on the site of today's art building, the Neue Lusthaus in Stuttgart was one of the most famous buildings of the German Renaissance and served as a place for courtly games and amusements. It was famous for its ballroom, spanned by a cantilevered painted barrel vault and measuring about 200 × 70 × 50 feet. The building burned down in 1902.
