The Grote Markt -Market Square-, in old town of Bruges, is a large square of about 1 hectare lined by notable buildings, such as the Provincial Court and the 13th-century Belfry, one of the landmarks of the city. In the center stands the statue of Jan Breydel and Peter De Coninck, heroes of the Battle of the Golden Spurs of July 1302, built in 1887. Bruges (Brugge in Dutch) is a city of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium.
