Warming himself in the morning sun on the roadside, a wild eastern box turtle eventually makes his way into the lush Daniel Boone National Forest in Twin Knobs, Kentucky. Their conservation status in near threatened to vulnerable.
Eastern box turtles are slow crawlers, extremely long-lived, and slow to mature and have relatively few offspring per year. They are native to the Eastern United States.

Swamp turtle - are predators. They prefer food of animal origin: insects, crustaceans, molluscs, tadpoles, frogs, fish. They can eat the corpses of waterfowl. They also feed on algae and aquatic plants.
