The Red Angel's Trumpet, or to use the correct botanical name, Brugmansia Sanguinea, is a South American species of flowering shrub or small trees. The tube shaped flowers come in brilliant red, yellow, orange and green colours. The plant is endemic to the Andes Mountains from Colombia to Northern Chile, and normally found at elevations between 2000 to 3000 metres above mean sea level, All parts of the plant are highly poisonous.

The seeds of Japanese maples are housed in samaras, whish are propeller-shaped capsules. Growing in pairs, they emerge in shades of green before maturing to red during growing season. Upon ripening in September to October, they will look brown and crinkly.\nThe propeller shape of the samaras is actually vital for seed distribution.
