Camellia japonica, commonly called Japanese camellia, is an evergreen shrub that typically grows to 2-4m tall with glossy, dark green leaves. It is native to Japan and China. Species plants have single flowers, but there are also cultivars with semi-double or double flowers. Each single flower has 5-8 petals. Flower colors are most commonly white, pink or red with yellow anthers.

Beautiful yellow St. John's Wort (hypericum) flower. Extract from the plant is used as an herbal antidepressant. However, the plant itself is toxic if ingested outright. Visit wikipedia before you decide to try using this yourself. Makes a nice landscape plant though, and has a fresh fragrance.
