The facade and the medieval bell tower of the Basilica di Santa Cecilia (St. Cecilia Basilica), in the ancient Trastevere district, in the historic heart of Rome. According to legend, this church was built starting from the 5th century in the place where St. Cecilia was martyred, in 220 AD. The church took on its current Baroque style after some transformations made in the 16th century. Inside, under the main altar, you can admire the marble statue of St. Cecilia made in 1599 by the sculptor Stefano Maderno, which depicts the body of the saint covered by a veil, as it was in her original tomb present in the ancient perimeter of the church.
