Indian pipe (Monotropa uniflora) flower heads from above. A wildflower not a mushroom, in the New England forest in midsummer. With one flower on each stem, this is one of the few plants that lack chlorophyll (which makes plants green). It can live in dark forests because it needs no sunlight for photosynthesis. It survives by parasitizing certain fungi, trees and decomposing plants. Also called ghost plant.

The Kanuka (Kunzea ericoides) Tea Tree flower in bloom on a Tea Tree in differential focus.\n\nAlthough kanuka honey is not as well-known internationally as manuka, it actually contains more of the antiseptic properties than manuka. Leaves of the Sutherlandia frutiscens (Cancer bush). This plant is native to South Africa where it has long been used in traditional medicine as a cure for a range of fevers and illnesses. It has been shown to have a high level of anti-oxidants which may be beneficial in boosting immunity and as an anti-inflammatory, but claims of it being  beneficial in treating cancer and HIV/AIDS have yet to be scientifically proven.
