The Church of Saint Antonio of Padua was built in 1986 and is the only church in Baia Sardinia. Project specialists from Frank Gebhard have maintained the appearance of rural churches typical of Gallura. It is built of granite and has a simple nave interior. The distinctive window exterior is illustrated here. The church can be found on the tree--lined road leading to the sea front, Via Baja Sardinia.\n The patronal festival in Baja Sardinia for Saint Antonio of Padua is held on the 13th June. This warm summer evening hosts events of traditional dance, folk music, concerts and markets.\n Anthony of Padua was canonised in 1232 and his festival is also celebrated in communities throughout the Catholic world.\nThe main attraction in Baia Sardinia is the beach, Cala Batistoni which is packed with families in the summer. This area was named the ‘Sardinia’ in 1959 by the Prince Aga Khan. He became convinced that his investment from the previous year was worthwhile and set about transforming Gallura into a tourist attraction. It has the reputation as an exclusive playground for the rich and famous. Each summer Italian celebrities together with the wealthy flock to this area. Baia Sardinia is aimed at the family market and there are many modern holiday complexes and hotels overlooking the bay.
