Lionfish on coral reef off the tropical island of Bonaire in the Caribbean Netherlands.
Big Blue Octopus Octopus cyanea occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific from eastern Africa to the Hawaiian Islands in a depth range from 0-150m, max. mantle length 22cm with arms to at least 80 cm. \nBig blue octopuses are found living in muddy, sandy, or rocky bottoms, and in seagrass beds. They create lairs or dens in crevices or coral rubbles within coral reefs. These dens aren't used for long term; on average individuals spend up to 35 days in one den. The average lifespan of big blue octopuses is 12 to 15 months.\nThis juvenile specimen was encountered in the Triton Bay, Indonesia \n3°54'41.052 S 134°7'18.204 E at 12m depth

Common Lionfish Pterois volitans inhabits lagoon and seaward reefs from turbid inshore areas to depths of 50 m, max. length 38cm. Often solitary, they hide in unexposed places at daytime often with head down and practically immobile, using the pattern for camouflage as a hunting skill. The species has recently invaded Western Atlantic and Caribbean coral reefs, and may become one of the most ecologically harmful marine fish introductions to date. The dorsal fins are venomous, but it is a popular table fish. This specimen inbetween sponges, hydroids and soft corals is from Nailaka Island, Banda Sea, Indonesia, \n4°32'37.728 S 129°40'48.3 E at 13m depth

The Mombasa lionfish, Pterois mombasae, is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Scorpaenidae, the scorpionfishes and lionfishes. It is found in the Indo-West Pacific, from East Africa to the Philippines and Japan. It is a moderately sized fish, growing to a maximum length of 20 cm (8 in).\n\nThe Mombasa lionfish is a brightly colored fish, with a white body and red, orange, and black bands. It has long, flowing pectoral fins, and a venomous spine on each of its dorsal, anal, and pelvic fins.\n\nThe Mombasa lionfish is a predatory fish, and feeds on small fish, crustaceans, and mollusks. It is a popular aquarium fish, but its venomous spines make it a potentially dangerous fish to handle.
