The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Designed by Robert Hooke in collaboration with Christopher Wren, the Monument has a viewing platform at the top, which is reached by 311 steps, its height of 202 feet marking the distance from the site of the baker’s shop of Thomas Farrinor where the fire began.

It is eated at Monument Street joining Fish Street Hill. Responsible for monument was Sir Christopher Wren, also architect of St. Paul's Cathedral which burnt in great fire from 1666.
