Japanese sago palm ( Cycas revoluta ) leaves and flower (male and female flowers). Cycadaceae Dioecious evergreen shrub. Flowering season is from June to August.
The Japanese sago palm is not a palm at all but kind of an ancestor to the common coniferous trees. They are very popular in the city Ponta Delgada which is the main town on the Portuguese Azorean Island San Miguel in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean.
Sago palm in Latin called Cycas revoluta captured in a greenhouse of a botanic garden with various exotic plants. Cycas has thick coat of fibers on its trunk and is known for production of sago.
