White Shasta Daisy Blooming Flower in Spring Garden

Leucanthemum paludosum is a perennial flowering plant, which is usually grown as an annual. Its common names include Creeping daisy, Mini marguerite, Baby marguerite, White button and Snow daisy. Leucanthemum paludosum grows to 15-30 cm tall with strong-scented, dark green leaves and masses of button-sized, daisy-like, white flowers with bright-yellow centers. It blooms from spring to autumn.

$The word daisy comes from the Latin margarita which means “pearl”. In English, its name is translated into “daisy”, an altered form of the phrase “day’s eye” which means “eye of the day”. This translation in turn fits perfectly with the identity of the flower as its promises close during the night and open again at sunrise.\n\nOf European origin and full of striking characteristics, the daisy has wide, slender features that outline the central, golden or yellow bud. Its leaves are oval and its stem is long, reaching up to 1 meter in height when grown in the garden. It is worth mentioning that its fragile flowers appear twice a year, during the summer and autumn seasons.$

Marguerite, also called Marguerite daisy, Argyranthemum, Paris daisy and some other names, is a small, shrub-like perennial in the family Asteraceae, which is native to the Canary Islands. Available in a variety of hues from white or yellow to pink or purple depending on the species, these daisies are similar in appearance to the Shasta daisy. The various species and subspecies result from hybridization. The Marguerite daisy has a long blooming time, from late spring to early fall.
