The high altar in the parish church of St Lawrence in Castle Rising, a pretty village in West Norfolk, Eastern England. The church is of Norman origin but was restored in the Romanesque style in the 19th century by Anthony Salvin and George Edmund Street. The village is very popular with tourists and contains a beautiful, historic castle.
The church was mostly associated with Father Jean DeSmet, a famous advocate for the Indians of the Northern Rocky Mountains.

St John’s is rather unusual as it has no churchyard and no spire, having been a chapel of ease to St Mary’s church, Barking (Suffolk) until 1901. However, it is very ancient, having been constructed in the second half of the 15th century.
