Of all the temple remains in Egypt, the Temple of Horus at Edfu is the most completely preserved. Built from sandstone blocks, the huge Ptolemaic temple was constructed over the site of a smaller New Kingdom temple, oriented east to west, facing towards the river. The later structure faces north to south and leaves the ruined remains of the older temple pylon to be seen on the east side of the first court. No larger remains dating earlier than the 5th Dynasty have been found at Edfu.
Ramesseum, Theban Necropolis, Luxor, Egypt - July 22, 2022: The Ramesseum is the memorial temple (or mortuary temple) of Pharaoh Ramesses II. It is located in the Theban Necropolis in Upper Egypt, on the west of the River Nile, across from the modern city of Luxor. The name – or at least its French form Rhamesséion – was coined by Jean-François Champollion, who visited the ruins of the site in 1829 and first identified the hieroglyphs making up Ramesses's names and titles on the walls.
Habu Temple, also known as Medinet Habu, is an ancient Egyptian temple complex located on the west bank of the Nile River in Luxor, Egypt. It was built during the 18th Dynasty of the New Kingdom and is dedicated to the worship of the god Amun, along with other deities like Amun-Ra and Ptah. The temple complex is renowned for its well-preserved reliefs, hieroglyphics, and massive statues, providing valuable insights into ancient Egyptian religious practices and historical events.\n\nThe temple's main features include a monumental entrance known as the First Pylon, adorned with intricate reliefs depicting military victories and rituals. The complex also features courtyards, halls, and sanctuaries, showcasing the temple's significance as a religious and administrative center. The reliefs on the walls depict various scenes, including battles, offerings, and religious ceremonies, shedding light on the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses III, who is prominently associated with the temple.\n\nHabu Temple stands as a testament to ancient Egyptian architectural and artistic achievements, offering valuable information about the New Kingdom's political, religious, and cultural contexts. Its significance lies not only in its religious functions but also in the historical narratives it preserves through its detailed artwork.
