Fritillaria imperialis ‘Rubra Maxima’ is a bulbous herbaceous perennial, which features a beautiful display of orange-red pendant, bell-shaped flowers, blooming in mid to late spring. The plant is topped by a crown of small leaves and rising high at the end of an upright stem bearing lance-shaped, glossy leaves. Although the plant that I saw was about 30 cm or so, I understand that it grows up to around one meter high.
