Pleurotus ostreatus, commonly known as the Oyster Mushroom, is a popular edible mushroom that is often cultivated for its culinary uses. It has a fan-shaped cap that is white to gray in color and a smooth, oyster-like texture. The gills are white and decurrent, running down the stem. Oyster mushrooms are known for their meaty texture and mild flavor, which is often described as earthy or nutty. They are a good source of protein, fiber, and essential vitamins and minerals.
