Partenon on Greek Vintage Postage Stamp. The Parthenon  is a temple in the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their protector. Its construction began in 447 BC and was completed in 438 BC, In the 1200's the Parthenon was converted to a Christian church and then converted into a Mosque in the 1400's.
