A delicate light illuminates a beautiful glimpse of the Roman Forum seen from the gardens of the Palatine Hill, in the heart of the Eternal City. On the horizon the Altare della Patria National Monument and the rear side of the Basilica di Santa Maria in Aracoeli, on the Capitoline Hill. Bottom center, the triumphal arch of Septimius Severus, along the Sacred Way, and the facade of the church of San Giuseppe at the Mamertine Prison, where the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul were locked up before their martyrdom. The Palatine Hill, one of the seven ancient hills of Rome, it is the place where important imperial palaces stood, such as the Domus Flavia and the Domus Augustana. The triumphal arch dedicated in AD 203 to commemorate the Parthian victories of Emperor Septimius Severus and his two sons, Caracalla and  Publius Septimius Geta,  is seen to the centre of the image. The tourists will walk up through the Arch to Campidoglio and the Renaissance buildings in the background. In the foreground, are ruins and to the left the Temple of Vesta. Built in white marble in 203 AD to commemorate the victories of the emperor Septimius Severus in the Parthian war, it is one of the best preserved triumphal arches of ancient imperial Rome. On the right, the remains of the Temple of Saturn, initially built by Tarquinius Superbus during the reign of Rome in 497 BC and completed in its present form in 360 AD. The Roman Forum, one of the largest archaeological areas in the world, represented the political, legal, religious and economic center of the city of Rome, as well as the nerve center of the entire Roman civilization.
