However, due to the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy, the work was interrupted; it was only thanks to San Giovanni Bosco that construction could be resumed in 1880 and completed in 1887 by the architect Francesco Vespignani. In 1796 it moved its eyes prodigiously, at the same time as the image of the Most Holy Madonna of Graces.\nThe sacred Simulacrum that is venerated here, worked countless miracles so that many people turned to it, confident of experiencing its beneficial effects. In fact, a good number of sick people regained their health and not a few sinners, just by looking at it, touched by Grace, converted.

Karanlk Kilise, or the Dark Church, was a monastic compound built in the 11th century.  It is decorated with scenes from the New Testament:  Christ Pantocrator, Nativity, Adoration of the Magi, First Bath, Last Supper, Betrayal of Judas, Crucifixion, Anastasis. The  frescoes, depicting scenes from the New Testament, are the best preserved in all of Cappadocia and a fine example of 11th-century Byzantine art.   Goreme, Cappadocia, Turkey.
