Daphne odora (winter daphne) is a species of flowering plant in the family Thymelaeaceae and is native to China. It is sometimes called Spurge olive, but this name is shared by other plants. It is an evergreen shrub with fragrant, fleshy, pale-pink, tubular flowers. D. odora 'Aureomarginata' has yellow edged leaves, and is hardier and more suitable to cultivation. Canna, or Canna lily, is rhizomatous perennial with tropical-like foliage and large flowers that resemble iris flowers, which come in shades of red, pink, orange, yellow, brown and white colors. Although canna is originally plant of tropics, most cultivars have been developed in temperate climates and are grown now in most countries of the world.
