An Australian goanna - or lace monitor - uses its massive claws to hold on to the trunk of an ironbark tree. These giant lizards grow up to 1.5 metres long and are serious predators, tackling any animal that they can subdue. To escape danger - or in pursuit of arboreal prey - they can climb rapidly high into the trees. They are the closest living relative of the Komodo Dragon.
