A wide angle view of the stunning Arch of Constantine in the imperial heart of the Eternal City. The largest triumphal arch in the ancient world celebrates the victory of Emperor Constantine over the usurper Maxentius in the battle of Ponte Milvio (Milvian Bridge), which took place in 312 AD near Rome, along the Tiber river. With its 21 meters high, 25.9 meters wide and 7.9 meters deep, the Arch of Constantine is a compendium of Roman sculpture and history, with depictions and bas-reliefs concerning the gestures of the emperors Hadrian, Trajan and Marcus Aurelius. Built in masonry and marble in the core of the Roman Forum, between the imperial hill of the Palatine and the Celian hill, this sumptuous Roman monument is placed diagonally to the Flavian Amphitheater or Colosseum (right in the photo). The Roman Forums, one of the largest archaeological areas in the world, represented the political, legal, religious and economic center of the Ancient Rome, as well as the nerve center of the entire Roman civilization. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Super wide angle and high definition image in 16:9 format.

Viterbo, Italy, April 04 -- A suggestive view of Piazza del Plebiscito in the historic heart of the medieval city of Viterbo, in central Italy. On the left, the Torre Civica (Civic Tower), the highest medieval tower in the city, built in 1487. The medieval center of Viterbo, the largest in Europe with countless historic buildings, churches and villages, stands on the route of the ancient Via Francigena (French Route) which in medieval times connected the regions of France to Rome, up to the commercial ports of Puglia, in southern Italy, to reach the Holy Land through the Mediterranean. Located about 100 kilometers north of Rome along the current route of the Via Cassia, Viterbo is also known as the city of the Popes, because in the 13th century it was the Papal See for 24 years. Founded in the Etruscan era and recognized as a city with a papal document from the year 852 AD, the entire city is characterized by its stone and tuff constructions, materials abundantly present in this region of central Italy and which have always been used for the construction of houses and churches. A splendid cityscape featuring a part of the historic center of the Etruscan and Medieval city of Perugia, a secondary city in central Italy, capital of the Umbria region. Founded by the Etruscans on an ancient Umbrian settlement and subsequently conquered by the Romans, Perugia is one of the most loved and visited medieval Italian cities, rich in artistic and architectural treasures that span almost three thousand years of history. The Umbria region, considered the green heart of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the high quality of the extra virgin olive oil produced in these lands.
