With a farm and silos in the distance,  a large Middle Mississippian mound stands in the Azatlan State Park.  The Native American mound dating from 900 A.D was abandoned around 1200 A.D.

Jelling burial mound, Denmark - UNESCO World Heritage Site
Knowth, Newgrange / Crewbane, County Meath, Ireland: Knowth burial mound (in Irish Cnobha), the site of a Neolithic passage tomb in the Boyne Valley. There is some evidence that activity continued at the Knowth site into the late Neolithic and Bronze Age. The site belongs to the tomb complex of Brú na Bóinne. It lies approximately 1  km northwest of Newgrange, and 2  km west of Dowth. UNESCO world heritage site.

Looking out from the top of the largest platform mound in the park, two people enjoy the 900 A.D. Middle Mississippian mound in Aztalan State Park with part of a reconstructed stockade. The Native American settlement was abandoned around 1200 A.D.

Austerlitz is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Zeist, and lies about 6 km east of Zeist. \n\nIn 1804, an army camp was established at the site, called French camp. The town was founded on 17 August 1806 on the location of the camp. It was given its name by King Louis Napoleon of Holland in honour of the victory of his brother, emperor Napoleon in the Battle of Austerlitz. In 1840, it was home to 233 people.\n\nClose to the town, there is an artificial hill called the Pyramid of Austerlitz , actually part of the municipality Woudenberg. It used to have a wooden obelisk, but was removed in 1808 due to instability. In 1894, a stone obelisk added to the top.

Newgrange is a prehistoric monument in County Meath in Ireland, located on a rise overlooking the River Boyne, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) west of the town of Drogheda. It is an exceptionally grand passage tomb built during the Neolithic Period, around 3200 BC, making it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. Newgrange is the main monument in the Brú na Bóinne complex, a World Heritage Site that also includes the passage tombs of Knowth and Dowth, as well as other henges, burial mounds and standing stones.

Kong Asgers Høj is a 5000 year old burial mound for the ancient King Asger on the island of Møn on Denmark. Discovered and excavated in 1839 it is the most famous of many ancient sites dotted around the island. Photographed against a setting sun to enhance the mood of this special place. Krakus Mound or Kopiec Krakusa, also called the Krak Mound, is a tumulus located in the Podgorze district of Krakow, Poland. Thought to be the resting place of Kraków's mythical founder, the legendary King Krakus. It is located on Lasota Hill, with a base diameter of 60 metres and a height of 16 metres.
