The Pasteur Institute (Institut Pasteur) is a French non-profit private foundation dedicated to the study of biology, micro-organisms, diseases, and vaccines. It is named after Louis Pasteur, who made some of the greatest breakthroughs in modern medicine at the time, including pasteurization and vaccines for anthrax and rabies. The institute was founded in 1887. For over a century, the Institut Pasteur has been at the forefront of the battle against infectious disease. Since 2020, the Pasteur Institute has been working on research into the vaccine against the Covid-19 coronavirus. Copenhagen, Denmark - May 3, 2024: Public equestrian statue of Absalon, the founder of the city of Copenhagen, Denmark. The statue was erected by Copenhagen Municipality back in the year 1902 - 122 years ago! The statue was made by sculptor Wilhelm Bissen (1836-1913) and the statue has to this day been permanently placed on the public square Højbro Plads in the center of the city.
