The remainder being raised by public subscription.\nThe sculptor, Sir Francis Chantrey (1781 to 1841), was commissioned in 1838 but died before the work was completed. It was finished by his assistant Henry Weekes (1807 to 1877).\nThe Lord Mayor, William Magnay, unveiled the statue on 18th June 1844, the anniversary of Waterloo, in the presence of his guest the King of Saxony.$

$Brisbane, Australia - November 24, 2010:A man is sitting and reading a newspaper under the statue of Sir Thomas William Glasgow (1876-1955). Sir Glasgow was an Australian Army Major General in World War I and member of the Australian Senate from 1919 - 1931. In April 25, 1918, Sir Glasgow\\'s 13th Brigade together with Harold Elliott\\'s 15th Brigade, recaptured the town of Villers-Bretonneux after the Germans have overrun the 8th British Division. This feat was described as the turing-point of the World War I. For his service, Sir Glasgow was appointed Knight Commander of the Order of Bath in 1919.$

It was displayed in Montpellier, France for less than a year, but was then put in storage. Since the city of Louisville, Kentucky was named for Louis XVI - the French king when the city was founded - the city of Montpellier gifted it to Louisville. It arrived in December 1966 and was installed in July 1967 in front of the county courthouse. The statue, made of Carrera marble, is 6'10\$
