Selcuk, Ä°zmir , TURKEY - October 18 2020:  Celsus Library is one of the most beautiful structures in Ephesus. Celcius Library was built in 117 A.D. Celsus Library was a monumental tomb for Gaius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus, the governor of the province of Asia; from his son Galius Julius Aquila. The grave of Celsus was beneath the ground floor, across the entrance and there was a statue of Athena over it.

Palmyra, Syria- 28 November 2008: Ruins of Palmyra city, Syrian deesert. Dating back to the Neolithic era, the city of Palmyra, was a strategically located oasis first attested in the early second millennium BC as a caravan stop for travelers crossing the Syrian Desert. Mentioned in the Hebrew Bible and the annals of the Assyrian kings, Palmyra was subsequently incorporated into the Seleucid Empire, followed by the Roman Empire which brought it great prosperity. It is saddening that its present Roman ruins, declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site, have come to be endangered in the 21st century by regional military and political strife.

Dartmoor, a nature reserve in the south western part of England  is a unique place with wild, open moorlands and deep river valleys, with a rich history and rare wildlife. The photo shows one of the many graves in this nature reserve that date back to the iron or bronze age. Photo was taken along the B3312, east of Tavistock.
