In a desperate bid to travel to ancestral homes, commuters from Bangladesh capital Dhaka, whenever there are long holidays marking any religious or other festival, take a risky journey on trains every year because of shortage of trains, buses or ferries. They don’t care about a descent seat. They feel lucky, if they can manage a space to sit on the roof or any other places on the overburdened trains. The journeys give an impression of poor transport management and also incapability of dealing with the steadily growing population of Dhaka.

Rajshahi Railway station is one of the busiest stations in Bangladesh. But, as the Covid-19 situation worse in Rajshahi and a lockdown is announced in June and July, it gets empty. Currently, Bangladesh is under very strict lockdown, and these images show a glimpse of that situation.

In the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar railway project, for the first time on October 15, a train with six carriages of Suvarna Express and a 2200 series engine is ready at Patia station for trial to the tourist city of Cox's Bazar. After the completion of this project, Cox's Bazar will be connected to the whole country by train.
