Cairo, Egypt - June 1998. Ramses Square is a central square in Cairo. \nThe name comes from an ancient monumental statue of the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II, which was in the middle of the square, a roundabout. The statue was erected in 1955 under the Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser. On August 25, 2006, the statue of Ramses II was moved near the pyramids of Giza because the air pollution caused by the traffic in the square threatened to destroy the statue. The image were scanned from an old negative.
