An old receipt, dated 1958 for a deposit paid on an item of baby equipment from a shop selling baby prams, nursery furniture and toys. The deposit was £3.0s.0d, so it is likely that the item being reserved was a pram: there was a superstition that it was unwise to buy the pram before the baby was born but it was normal to pay a deposit and order one. (All identifying details removed.)
